<p>Dr. Diovane Ruaro, a cosmetic surgeon and the head of the Brazilian College of cosmetic Surgery, reportedly informed local media that Andrade seemed healthy prior to the procedure (metro.co.uk).</p>
<p>Following problems during the procedure, a pulmonary embolism has been declared as the cause of death for the model and fashion designer.</p>
<p>According to Sao Luiz Hospital, the patient had major thrombosis during testing after the procedure was stopped. After being moved to the intensive care unit, she received hemodynamic therapy and medicines.</p>
<p>“There is no risk-free surgery, nor any medical procedure that does not involve some type of risk, especially when it is a surgical procedure,” said Dr. Eduardo Teixeira of the Brazilian College of Plastic operation.</p>
<p>In an homage to Andrade, his longtime boyfriend Joao Hadad said on Instagram, “I’m torn and living my worst nightmare.” Something of me is lost. God’s plans are hard to comprehend these days, and I’m not sure when or if I’ll be able to deal with the fact that you will no longer be in my life or the lives of many others who have cherished your presence.</p>
<p>Fans are now leaving condolences under Andrade’s three Instagram pics from the gym, which she shared the day before her operation.</p>
<p>The homage to Andrade was also shared by Brazilian football player Neymar, who said, “Today I lost a friend due to “minor” aesthetic procedures.” There has to be an immediate halt to the unrealistic ideal of “perfect” bodies that are promoted on Instagram and in the media.</p>
